I’ve never walked the dusty roads of Jerusalem
Or stood beside the sea of Galilee
I wasn’t on the hillside when the multitude was fed
Or watched the Master cause the blind to see
But I’ve been on a journey
And time and time and time again
He lets me know that where I’m standing
He’s already been

I’ve been to Gethsemane
I’ve felt alone and betrayed
I’ve cried out in agony
And learned what it really means to pray
I’ve found what surrender means
I know how it feels to be free
There’s been a change in me
I’ve been to Gethsemane

I think I understand the words that the Savior prayed
That God would somehow take the bitter cup
Cause in my hour of weakness in the middle of my need
I knew that I just not strong enough
But O the sweet communion the grace that set me free
When I abandoned all my will to what God had for me

I’ve been to Gethsemane
I’ve felt alone and betrayed
I’ve cried out in agony
And learned what it really means to pray
I’ve found what surrender means
I know how it feels to be free
There’s been a change in me
I’ve been to Gethsemane

I’ve been to Gethsemane
I’ve felt alone and betrayed
I’ve cried out in agony
And learned what it really means to pray
I’ve found what surrender means
I know how it feels to be free
